this is my first visit to your blog and i really enjoyed this post. i'm struggling with some weight issues now for my own reasons and the whole slowing metabolism thing that happens in our wonderous 30s. it's not to the extent of yours, some would still consider me average-ish, but i gained 20 pounds in a year. for me some of it was attributed to a job that had me working nights and feeling miserable. i was never one who craved sugar, but now i do. one thing leads to another...

congrats on making the commitment to stick to your resolution, no matter what time of year you decide. being healthy for your body frame is one of the best gifts we can all give ourselves. it reduces health risks, depression, gives us energy, and we get the external benefit of feeling good about how we look.

My experience has proven to think of the positive effect of the action. If one only thinks of the negative or lack of immediate gratification, it's impossible to succeed. A clear and define goal and the belief that the action taken is going to reveal a greater pleasure than the same destructive actions or habits that create ultimate pain in one's life. It's all pleasure versus pain.
